Mrs. Ripstra is the Bailey Middle School Librarian! She brings 19 years of experience in education with 11 years as a Librarian. She is passionate about literacy, technology, and the Texas Aggies!
LIBRARIAN
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Bailey Middle School Library is to bring together students, staff, and community members in encouraging a lifelong love of learning and reading, building information literacy skills, nurturing inquiry and research, and kindling curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.
HOURS
Before School
No pass required to visit:
8:00 AM - 8:20 AM

Students must be in class by 8:25 AM!

No late passes will be given.

No in-out privileges.
Pass from teacher required to visit:
8:25 AM - 3:40 PM

Students should go to class to get pass from teacher before coming to Library.

No visits during passing periods.

Lunch passes available at discretion of Librarian and her schedule.
During School
After School
No pass required to visit:
3:40 PM - 4:00 PM

Students should have a purpose for being in the Library after school

Loitering & disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.

No in-out privileges.

LIBRARY MATERIALS

AISD students have access to books from their home campus and books and from other AISD campuses. If you want a book we don't have at Bailey, you can request to borrow the book through interlibrary loan (ILL).

If you would like a book that is currently checked out, ask to place a hold so that you will be next in line for the book.

Research sources, including databases and print reference materials, are available to help you complete assigned research projects. When using databases and any online sources, district policies regarding acceptable use must be followed. See your student handbook for more information on the Acceptable Use Policy.
Checkout Policy

Students may check out 2 books at a time, for 2 weeks.

Lost books must be paid for, but can be refunded if you find it during the same school year and return it in good condition.

Computer & Technology -- Acceptable Use Policy

You are responsible for not sharing your district account password with others.

You will be held responsible at all times for the proper use of District technology resources, and the District may suspend or revoke your access if you violate the rules.

The account is to be used primarily for educational purposes, but some limited personal use is permitted.

From AISD Acceptable Use Policy:

Any malicious attempt to harm or destroy District equipment or materials, data of another user of the District's system(s), or any of the agencies or other networks that are connected to the Internet is prohibited. Deliberate attempts to compromise, degrade, or disrupt system performance may be viewed as violations of District policies and administrative regulations and, possibly, as criminal activity under applicable state and federal laws.

Computer & Technology -- Examples of Inappropriate Use

Damaging electronic communication systems … disfiguring or altering equipment, or displaying lack of reasonable care in its use

Disabling or attempting to disable any Internet filtering device

Accessing sites not authorized under the District’s filtering policies

Encrypting communications to avoid security review

Using someone’s account without permission

Pretending to be someone else when posting, transmitting, or receiving messages

Attempting to read, delete, copy, modify, or interfere with another user’s electronic media

Using resources to engage in conduct that harasses or bullies others

Posting, transmitting, or accessing materials that are abusive, obscene, sexually oriented, threatening, harassing, damaging to another’s reputation, or illegal

Using inappropriate language such as swear words, vulgarity, ethnic or racial slurs, and any other inflammatory language

Posting or transmitting pictures of students without obtaining prior permission from all individuals depicted or from parents of depicted students who are under the age of 18

Violating others’ intellectual property rights, including downloading or using copyrighted information without permission from the copyright holder

Use of unlicensed software, or altering district installed software.

Posting or transmitting personal information about yourself or others, such as addresses and phone numbers
